Daydreams and Wallscapes

"Synergy" is my first Triptych, representing the flow of the astrological energies through the tropics of Capricorn and Tropics of Cancer with the Sun being the center of all beings. It suggests that they are all meant to work together.  So if we all have a sign, wouldn't that suggest that we have a bigger purpose?

"Crystal Hideaway" is actually Crystal Co., an old abandoned Silver mine in Colorado.  This painting was derived from an amazing photograph taken by a friend's father, Richard Cooper of Colorado Springs, U.S.A.  It was a pleasure to paint such a beautiful scene.

"Beauty Lake" was painted in memory of a wonderful camping trip with friends in New Liskeard, Ontario.  We took only necessities and foraged for Lobster mushrooms, fresh water muscles, blueberries and other wonderful wild herbs.

"Sibling Moments" is another capture on film that I had to paint.  It reflects how children find pure fascination and wonderment in the simple but beautiful things in life.  Here and now is how they exist. (Something we as adults forget to appreciate).

"Rooted In The Tree Of Humanity" symbolizes a personal journey, my utmost respect for humanity and all life on earth.

"Tree of Illusions" is one of my very early pieces on canvas.  My vision at the time was about all living things being connected.

"Lifelines" is derived from an Ultra Sound of my first pregnancy.

Although the image used as a reference was very simple and vague, I was able to imagine all the intricate systems working to create my beautiful child within.

"United Light" was inspired by a meditation experience I had with a Monk visiting from Thailand. His guidance has helped me to keep centered through meditation.

Positively Paintings  by Janis Cornish

"Coming" and "Going" were derived from photographs I took of my youngest child.  What captivated me about them was that anyone could envision their own child at the beach.

Children are always so present in the moment and find pure joy in the simplest of things.

Hopefully these paintings remind you of a cherished moment when your kids or grandchildren were small and full of wonderment.

"Inner Reflections" is an interpretation of my pregnancy and cancer experience. I included a Yin and Yang perspective so I signed it in two places. Viewing of it in landscape, she is focussed on the pregnancy and beauty in the coming arrival of her precious gift.

In a portrait view you can see her worry over the other things going on inside of her at the same time.

In Honour and support of Gynecological Cancer.

"Guardian" was started in 1996. It started from a very different place than where I find myself now. At that time this image was derived from a place of turmoil.

Upon revisiting it and completing it in 20‚Äč12, my interpretation was one of protection and new life or rebirth.

"All For One, One For All" represents  Peace, Harmony and Hope that we can band together for the good of humanity and our planet.

"Water Babies" was derived from a photograph of my first born who couldn't get enough of the water.  Ironically, just after the photo was taken, her tube flipped and a minor rescue mission occurred.

Thankfully, she was unharmed and was not deterred from her love of the water.

"Silverback" was such a pleasure to paint.  This portrait captures the intensity of these beautiful and intelligent beings.  In Honour of the protection of such endangered species.

"Mother's Day" was derived from a photograph of my first born on my first Mother's Day while enjoying the company of my own Mother and Grandmother.

"Nirvana" is my first Mandala for Peace and Harmony.  If we could all ascend to this state of mind we could reach Nirvana.

"The Giving Tree" is interpretive of our energetic being.  The balance it can create within when we learn to centre ourselves through stillness of mind has great power that is a gift.

"Stone Treasures" in memory of a delightful day at the beach and my grandparents cottage.
